The awards were presented by Name Intelligence, a third party domain industry organization that provides the underlying data for www.registrarstats.com, and which also provides other tools and utilities for monitoring the domain name industry.


For the fourth consecutive year, Go Daddy won the top honor for Largest Net Gain, signifying that Go Daddy registered more domain names in 2004 than any other registrar. Go Daddy registered 3,107,170 of the following domain name extensions: .COM, .NET, .ORG, .INFO, .BIZ, and .US.


Go Daddy also walked away with the "Users' Choice Award," an award signifying a loyal and satisfied customer base. Various metrics were used to determine this particular award, including a random survey conducted by Name Intelligence of its Whois source, retention rates (based on Name Intelligence statistics), and registrar customer satisfaction surveys.
